The partnership between Windhoek and Berlin was a celebration of the rich cultural diversity, shared history, and collective aspirations of the two cities. By showcasing the diversity of both communities and encouraging active participation, the initiative left a lasting impact on the citizens of both cities.
Activities included: “Shared Identity” Visual Identity & Public Engagement Campaign (unveiling of the official City Partnership and Creative Identity logo).
- This event set the tone for the broader “Shared Identity” Awareness Campaign, which included an overarching communications campaign, a complementary public calendar of events, Digital storytelling and interviews, and Social media engagement.
“Twin City Week” – A Week-Long Celebration of Connection
- Coincided with the official mayoral visit in October 2025, Twin City Week brought together municipal leaders, creatives, educators, youth, and civil society from both cities for a powerful multi-day program focused on shared histories, future visions, and creative collaboration.
Activities included: Partnership Exhibition and Future Panel – “Voices of the Cities.” Full-Day Workshop – “Past, Present, Partnership.” And “Street Threads” – Decolonial Fashion Show in Windhoek CBD.
Outcomes
- Public awareness of the Berlin–Windhoek city partnership was increased through shared branding and a cross-platform campaign.
- Civic and cultural collaboration was strengthened among politicians, artists, designers, youth, and civil society from both cities.

The 25th anniversary of the Berlin–Windhoek city partnership offered a powerful opportunity not only to commemorate history but also to actively shape a shared future.
